Project Overview
In 2022, the City began upgrading all Oxnard Water customer meters to new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) devices. AMI is a new technology that allows real-time data regarding your water consumption to be communicated automatically with your water utility service provider (Oxnard Water). With AMI, customers have access to the same data, as well as leak notifications, via their EyeOnWater dashboard.
Current Phase – Construction
As of May 2025, almost 42,000 residential and commercial water meters have been installed. Citywide meter installations are expected to be completed by June 2025.

Reminders
Notification:ย A door hanger will be placed on your door at least 7 days before work begins in your area to notify you of when your meter upgrade is scheduled to be completed.
Impacts to You:ย You do not need to be home during the meter installation. Contractors will knock on your door to notify you that your installation is starting. The installation should be completed in approximately 15-30 minutes. Contractors will temporarily shut off your water, for up to 30 minutes, while your new meter is being installed.
Contractors: The City has partnered with Badger Meters and its vendor, Professional Meters Inc. (PMI), to install the new meters. They will have marked vests and vehicles. Please note that they will not be asking for any personal or account information.
Work Hours:ย Meter upgrades will take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
With your new water meter, you now have advanced technology for faster and precise meter readings; can monitor real-time data regarding your water consumption through your online portal; and can obtain integrated leak detection notifications to help prevent higher bills.
