The City of Oxnard is a film friendly destination that welcomes productions just sixty miles north of Los Angeles on the California coast. The City invites filmmakers to take advantage of our unique film locations and friendly, efficient permitting process.
Follow these easy steps to apply for a film permit
- Download and complete the film permit application packet in full and gather all supplemental documents
- Submit your completed application and documents to [email protected]
- City staff will be in touch within two business days to provide an update and gather any necessary additional information for your permit approval!
A film permit is required for filming of any kind within the City limits whether it be on private or public property. To allow sufficient time to complete a review, please submit application at least five working days prior to the first proposed film date. Additional review time may be required for more complex projects. Please be aware that film requests are not reviewed on weekends or City holidays.
There are various permitting jurisdictions in and around Oxnard. Before submitting your application, applicants are advised to verify that the proposed location is within the City of Oxnard’s permitting using the GIS Map Viewer.

During the review process, the City will identify fees applicable to your production. Please be aware that all fees are due before filming begins. If you have any questions about the fees, please contact 805-385-7447.
- Film Permit Application Fee: $100
- Fire Prevention Filming Permit: $150
- Fire Permits/Inspection: varies based on proposed elements
- Police Department Services (no parking signage, ITC, etc): varies based on proposed elements
- Public Property Location Fee (single day): $300
- Public Property Location Fee (multiple day): $200/day
- Parking Fees (‘ololkoy Beach Park): $5/day per stall used
A City of Oxnard Business Tax Certificate is required for all filming productions in Oxnard on private property.
