The City Council is the legislative body of the City of Oxnard. It consists of an at-large elected Mayor holding a four-year term and six council members elected by district for four-year staggered terms.
City Council meetings are typically held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. City Council Committee meetings are typically held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Mayor
Luis A. McArthur was elected to a four-year term as Mayor of the City of Oxnard on November 5, 2024. He was sworn in on December 11, 2024.
Mayor Pro Tem, District 2
Gabe Teran was elected to the Oxnard City Council on November 2, 2021 for Council District 2 for a term of one year. He was re-elected November 8, 2022, to serve a four year term. On December 11, 2024, he was appointed Mayor Pro Tem.
District 1
Bert E. Perello was elected to the Oxnard City Council in June 2013 to serve the remainder of the term vacated by Tim Flynn upon his election as Mayor in November 2012. Councilmember Perello was elected to serve his first full term as a councilmember in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 in the first by-district election. He was re-elected November 8, 2022, to serve a four year term.
District 3
Aaron Starr was elected to the Oxnard City Council in November 2024 and is serving his first term in office.
District 4
Gabriela Rodriguez was elected to the Oxnard City Council in November 2024 and is serving her first term in office.
District 5
Gabriela Basua was elected to the Oxnard City Council in November 2018. She was re-elected November 8, 2022, to serve a four year term.
District 6
Michaela Perez was elected to the Oxnard City Council in November 2024 and is serving her first term in office.
