Ventura County’s free emergency notification system delivers time-sensitive emergency alerts in English and Spanish where there is a threat to health and safety.
VC Alerts can only be sent to locations within Ventura County. To receive alerts by phone, text, email, fax, TTY/TDD device, or numeric page for your home, work or loved one’s location, register by one of the methods below:

Preparedness Tips Before the Storm
- Have supplies ready so you do not have to leave during a storm (food, water, radios, medication, and pet supplies)
- Charge electronics such as cell phones and mobile devices
- Be prepared in case of a power outage with batteries, flashlights, backup cell phone chargers, and charging cables
- Sign up to receive text, email, and phone call emergency alerts at www.vcalert.org
During a Storm
- Avoid driving if possible. Take extra precautions on roadways and follow signs regarding road closures and detours. Never drive into a flooded road
- Call 911 only for life-threatening situations, such as people trapped by flooding or damaged trees
- To report downed trees, please call the Police Non-Emergency line at (805) 385-7740. For trees that have fallen in the roadway and are creating a safety hazard, please call 911 immediately.
- If you see a downed power line, leave the area immediately and call 911, then call SCE at 1-800-611-1911.
