Final Results for the City of Oxnard May 1, 2018 Special Election
Oxnard, California – Oxnard City Clerk Michelle Ascencion has announced the final tabulation results for the May 1, 2018 Special Election. Based on the final count, the recall of the four officers was not successful.
To recall Mayor Tim Flynn: Yes – 6,205; No – 6,891.
To replace Mayor Flynn: Miguel Lopez – 3,857; Aaron Starr – 3,471; Lawrence Stein – 498; Modesto “Morey” Navarro – 343; Robert L. Sumpter – 163.
To recall Council Member Bert Perello: Yes – 5,304; No 7,654.
To replace Council Member Perello: Kari Cryder – 6,090.
To recall Council Member Carmen Ramirez: Yes – 5,475; No – 7,486.
To replace Council Member Ramirez: Francine Castanon – 3,976; Al Velasquez – 1,694; Ambrosio Casanova Jr. – 1,383.
To recall Council Member Oscar Madrigal: Yes – 5,488; No – 7,339.
To replace Council Member Madrigal: Miguel Martinez – 2,518, Angel Garcia – 1,217; John F. Ragan – 1,196; Enrique Petris – 1,112; Daniel Chavez, Jr – 973.
These numbers reflect the final count of the 13,174 ballots cast in the special election, a 16.6% turnout of the 79,068 voters registered in the City of Oxnard. There were 10,573 Vote-By-Mail ballots returned, accounting for 13.3% of the total turnout, while 2,601 voters cast their ballots in person on Election Day, for a 3.2% precinct turnout.
The City Clerk will bring the certification of the election results to the City Council at its May 15 meeting. The Mayor and three Council Members who were the subjects of the recall will finish out their current terms: Flynn, Perello, and Ramirez through December 2018, and Madrigal through December 2020.

Estos números reflejan el conteo final de las papeletas de 13.174 emitidos en la elección especial, una participación del 16,6% de los 79.068 electores registrados en la ciudad de Oxnard. Se retornaron 10.573 papeletas de votación por correo, que representan el 13,3% de la participación total, mientras que 2.601 votantes envían sus papeletas en persona el día de las elecciones, para una participación del distrito del 3,2%.
El Secretario Municipal traerá la certificación de los resultados de las elecciones al Concejo Municipal en su reunión del 15 de mayo.
