Residential Express Permits
Oxnard’s Building Division accepts some online applications for certain single-family residential projects (reroof, water heaters, electrical panels and more). Visit the Express portal to see if your project qualifies.
Projects that Don’t Require Permits
Many projects for single-family, residential homes do not require a permit. Some of these include:
- Cabinets, counter tops- and other build in furniture
- Drywall/gypsum board: Minor repairs
- Re-Roof: Repairs less than 40 square feet
- Painting, papering, tiling, and carpeting
- Wood, Chain Link, Vinyl, and Wrought Iron Fences (not over 6’ high)
- Retaining walls less than 3’6”
- Block Walls Less than 3’ 6” high (measured from bottom of footing)
- Detached Sheds a single one-story, detached accessory structure used as a tool or light storage shed, playhouse, (no larger than 120 square feet)
