Early water conservation education is crucial to future water use habits. Children are naturally interested in environmental issues and with good learning resources and opportunities, they will grow up to be better stewards of the environment.
Today’s children are key to conserving and maintaining clean and abundant water supplies for tomorrow.
Free K-6 Science School Assemblies in Oxnard
As part of educating children regarding the importance of water conservation, Shows That Teach is offering Free science – based assemblies to K – 6th graders to schools located within the Oxnard water service area.
These educational assemblies use music, humor and audience participation to engage and teach K – 6th grade students about water. The assembly program teaches K-6 students about:
- The value of water
- Water cycle
- Aquifers
- Evaporation
- How students can conserve water
The material is NGSS curriculum-based, with hands-on science projects ready for teachers to use in the classrooms.
2025 Water Wise Student Art Contest
The Water Division asked Oxnard Scholars After School Program students to draw a picture showing ways they save water at home every day. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place were chosen from grade categories 1-2, 3-5, 6-8. First place winners will have their artwork featured on some of the City’s recycling trucks.The Oxnard Public Main Library will feature a display of the winning artwork from May 1st until May 30th, 2025 in recognition of Water Awareness Month.
